Barbie in tears after taking a bashing

January 29, 2007

barbie.jpgHi Grit

Like me, I doubt that when a child, you came into contact with the “Barbie” doll, but my sister certainly had one, as did most of the girls in the area. Barbie was more than an icon, she was every child dream. Every girl had to have one and every boy wanted “a doll like that when I grow up.” Hence why, up until recently, she enjoyed 75% of the global fashion doll market.

But now the cute little Barbie is being bashed. A new doll called Bratz is giving Barbie a bashing. Yet another example of bullying, this time in the commercial marketplace. Barbie’s market share has already dropped to 60%? Is this any way to allow the doll idol of millions of children for nearly half a century to be treated? Surely not!

I think we should start a triple B campaign (Bring Back Barbie). Let’s spread the word through the Internet, with a double triple B campaign – BRING BACK BARBIE and BANISH BULLY BRATZ.

Shilpa Shetty wins

January 28, 2007

Hi Grit

It is over. A few moments ago Shilpa Shetty, the 31 year old Indian Actress walked out of the house for the final time, as the WINNER.  Shilpa, the target of racial abuse and bullying during her stay in the house, collects a £100,000 prize, collected 63% of the vote, beating Jermaine Jackson into second, and Dirk Benedict into third place. None of the three finalists were British.

Even in the post winning interview, Shilpa was magnanimous in victory, asking people to forget what had happened and thanking everyone in the UK for the opportunity she had been given. This despite having to sit through some awful comments that were made about her behind her back in the house by others.

Whether this will be the end of the incident remains to be seen, but at least Shilpa has acted like a lady and a deserving winner. Let’s hope that the media and everyone else takes her lead and lets the incident alone from now on, although I doubt with the English media that this will happen.

Anyway, congratulations to the Lady and to your two American contestants who did so well. America should be rightfully proud of the way that Jermaine and Dirk conducted themselves during this show. It is a shame some of the British contestants could not have acted more like the three finanlists.

Shilpa Shetty to win

January 27, 2007

shilpa_brother126.gifHey Grit

You will remember the Big Brother racist incident. Well it seems that whatever happens the victim, Shilpa Shetty will come out a winner. Irrespective of whether she wins the show or not, although the bookies her see that as the result, it has done her career the world of good.

As the press in India and other areas have reported, Shilpa is already being targetted for a number of contracts upon her leaving the show, including being host to a million dollar poker production. It also seems that during her time in the show she has built up quite a following outside of her native India.

It seems that maintaining her dignity, unlike some of the other contestants, has proven to be the right move for Shilpa.

Paris Hilton for $50K?

January 27, 2007

Hi Grit

It appears that one inventive company had the idea of of offering Paris Hilton to every male that wanted her – in the form of a lifesize blow up doll. However, their plans have received a minor setback as the lady herself has refused to endorse the product. Bearing in mind the other videos etc., that are flooding the net regarding the heiress, I find this decision somewhat at odds with her other activities.

Nevertheless it appears that the company is going ahead with their plans. Of course there is one obstacle to those wishing to indulge themselves – the price tag. $50K for a doll, whatever its capabilities, is a staggering amount and, in my view, you have to be seriously deranged to even think about it.

Paris Hilton might well be in trouble with her own career and life, but she is certainly creating a dollar bandwagon for others.

Jessica Lee Rose?

January 26, 2007

Hi Grit

Does the name Jessica Lee Rose mean anything to you? It should as it transpires that she is the most famous girl on the Internet. Her rise to stardom has happened as a result of taking part in the short video series lonelygirl15 for you tube, in which she plays a school girl who feels isolated from her peers as she is homeschooled.

Having been running for over a year, Jessica and the series are now achieving fame elsewhere. The UN has engaged Jessica to help with the fight against poverty and one of the videos even inspired a story for Law and Order. There has also been a record released which was inspired by the show and its video used a replica of the set.

It looks like this 17 year old is likely to go places in the entertainment world.

Britney has found Ghost of knickers future

January 25, 2007

Hi Grit

I was pleased to see from a story in your press that Britney has finally come to her senses and been out shopping – for knickers. At least this will save the press a fortune on flash cameras. Mind you, they could be for her new boyfiend. Who knows?

However, I also noticed that according to one satirist, that she has been seeing ghosts – of her dead career.

Paris Hilton Bubble Bath

January 24, 2007

Hey Grit

Paris Hilton is in the news again today – Twice! Firstly, a new website has opened up which is going to, apparently, show “racy” videos of the heiress, including one in a bubble bath. However, before everyone dashes to find it I should warn that the site is charging £21 ($42) for the priviledge. No doubt there will be some sad people out there who will fork out this exhorbitant amount.

Secondly, she has been fined and put on probation for two years after admitting a drink-driving offence. The reason she was out in the car was because she wanted a hamburger. Don’t you all have “take-away’s” over there?

Ah, justice at last.

January 23, 2007

Hi Brit,

At times justice is sweet; at other times, it smells.  Karmic Payback For Joe Francis Comes In Form Of 200 Hours Of Runyon Canyon Pooper-Scooper Duty.  On the off chance you don’t know who Joe Francis is, he’s the brains behind “Girls Gone Wild.”  Apparently Joe wasn’t checking IDs before filming the young tarts’ naughty bits.  Bad Joe, bad!
