Britney, more human than I thought!

February 23, 2007

Hi Brit,

When I was in high school, my stepfather was a divorce lawyer, so I got to see just how wild some partings of the way can get.  It was bad enough that, after his car was shot up, three times, the stack of death threat letters filled an entire drawer in a file cabinet, and our kitten was stomped to death, tied to a brick, and hurled through our window, he decided to no longer handle domestic cases.

Which brings us to Britney and here troubles with her ex.  After an apparent confrontation with Federline, Britney, well just look at the picture:

 britney.jpg

While this is obviously troubled behavior, it also reveals some good news.  First, while Britney is experiencing a few mental problems during these stressful times, she is still physically fit, as the size of the dents in that SUV prove.  It even looks like she managed to poke a hole in the metal, which is not easy to do with a blunt weapon like that umbrella.  Which, by the way, is the other good news.  She can still afford the best.  I didn’t even know there was an umbrella made that would hold up to such abuse, but I expect it costs a pretty penny.

Good luck Britney.

Britney suicide attempt

February 22, 2007

Hey Grit

I know we have been following the antics of Britney over the last few months, but this latest report must be the most worrying for her family and friends as well as the girl herself. It seems that, after leaving the rehab clinic, and following on from a row with her ex over the custody of her two children, Britney tried to commit suicide by walking in front of traffic.

In my view, the time has come for someone to take a serious view of this situation. It is obvious from the laxity of the rehab centre that they are more interested in the dollar and promotion impact of having a “headline grabbing” star in their clinic than actually doing the young girl any good. At the same time everything she does appears on the media within minutes, which suggests that someone, somewhere, is feeding them with information. Thus it must appear to Britney that there is no way out of this circus and that she stands a good chance of losing the two people she loves most, her children.

Granted Britney has bought a lot of the media attention onto herself by her antics. But there comes a time when they have to sit back and consider the psychological impact of their constant hounding of her. Maybe the time has come for them to back off and leave the girl to sort out her relationship and other problems out in private. And maybe the time has come for her friends, family and other hangers-on to take a step back and concentrate on helping Britney to recover from whatever demons are haunting her.

We have already had one celebrity suicide in the last few weeks with Anna Nicole Smith. Let us not allow the press and our own insatiable curiosity lead to another one.

Sex five miles high

February 18, 2007

Hey Grit

Have you read the article about the air stewardess who was sacked for having sex in the toilet of the aircraft whilst it was in flight. What makes this incidence more newsworthy is that the male participant was Ralph Fiennes the actor. The stewardess in question, Liza Robertson, at first denied the allegation, but in a story released in the Daily Mail today, has conceded that it did happen and that she was a willing particpant. In addition, the lady further reveals that the fling continued in the stars hotel room that night, but ended after that one night.

What I find amazing about the report itself is that the reporter suggests that the stewardess should be seen as a victim because she lost her job as a result of the incident. It also suggests that the actor has “dumped” her and took advantage of a “vulnerable” young woman. There are several issues here. The stewardess knew full well that she was breaking her employment terms and therefore could have expected nothing less than the sack. Ms Robertson would also have been aware that an incident that started in this manner could hardly be viewed as the basis of meaningful and long-term relationship.

Raking up Ms Robertson’s past life in support of this image is hardly sound journalism, nor can it be used an excuse for the lady’s behaviour. Add to this the fact that the stewardess has been involved with a similar weekend fling with a passenger on a previous flight with Quantas, and the fact that no doubt the paper has paid her handsomely for her story, and I fail to see how the reporter can conceivably promote the notion that Ms Robertson is a “victim.”

Similarly, the comment that somehow Ralph Fiennes has not helped and is somehow a villan of the piece is absurb. He did not force her to act in this manner, neither did he force her to spend the night with him at the hotel. If anything, the lady herself is the one doing the using. She has blatantly used the celebrity status of Fiennes to make financial gain out of the incident.

Ms Robertson has no-one to blame for the result of this incident but herself. Her actions have proven that she did not respect her position nor the fact that they were both consenting adults and that she willingly entered into this incident.

Britney even balder!

February 17, 2007

Hi Brit,

What a thing to wake up to, Britney, in the few hours that I don’t have the news on, has rehabbed and shaved her head.  So much for needing that second cup of coffee.  Assuming that her naughty bits are still hairless, this leaves her with only eyebrows to prove she is a mammal.  Unless those are painted on, in which case, I refer you to my post speculating on her being a space alien.

Danielle Lloyd gets her teddy back

February 16, 2007

Hi Grit

I noticed today that one of the alleged “bullies and racists” from the big brother house seems to be getting her life back together. Danielle Lloyd, the 23 year old model, got a surprise Valentine’s gift with the return of her Teddy (the footballer that is). She was seen out in the back seats of a movie with him on valentine night, indulging in what all young love couples do in such a location, which is not watching the film!

Knowing how partial young women are to having an old teddy to cuddle in bed, I bet this has made Danielle’s nights far more comfortable and cuddly.

At least she was wearing knickers…

February 15, 2007

Hi Brit,

Following up on, what would appear to be, our favorite subject, there is another tart to add to the exposed in public list.  This time it, Ashley Olsen shows off her underwear.  While she wasn’t actually flashing her naughty bits, it’s pretty close.  My theory is that she is going to open her own brand of lewd dance exercise studio, complete, of course, with exercise videos and a new wardrobe line.

Robbie Williams – “take that” in Rehab

February 15, 2007

Hi Grit

Yet another celebrity, this time one of the most successful on the UK music scene Robbie Williams, has scuttled off to rehab to address prescription drug, smoking and drinking addictions. Estimated to be worth around £100 million ($200 million), apparently the singer’s success, or in the case of the US market, leads to periods of deep depression. Apparently, the medical addressing of this depression has led to his drug addiction.

ROOT CAUSES

In my view, all this running off to spend £2,000 a night in a high profile clinic does not do a lot of good. This is obvious by the fact that, to stars such as Robbie, even the clinic visits become an addiction. This is not the first time he has checked into such a place. It is true that, for a while, they might be able to reduce the addictive habits, but historical statistics on celebrities proves that it does not last. Why is this, people may ask? The reason for this failure is that the therapists do not address the root cause of the problem.

The crux of the problem in Robbie Williams case can be found in ego, greed, arrogance and fear. He originally started out as a member of a highly successful boy band called “take that,” However, his ego did not like the fact that he was not being noticed in his own right, so he left to follow a solo career. To be fair to the man, this was a successful step and he soon became the UK’s number one performer. But his ego did not allow him to just accept the applause. In an effort to ensure that his foundation in the band was not a part of his new-found fame, he embarked upon a series of attacks on other band members.  The difference in character is shown by the fact that the rest of the band did not retaliate. They just bided their time.

Last year Take That reformed after a gap of over ten years. The result of this was that they became an overnight sensation. Their first new album has outsold Robbie Williams latest one by three to one as fans return to the original concept. This shows that Williams was right to fear the band that kick-started his career. However, there is more than enough room for both. It is also strange that the latest visit to the clinic follows the exceptional success that the reformed “Take That” band are enjoying. It is almost as if Williams, in a desperate bid to prove he is more popular than them, is attempting to steal the limelight away.

With regard to arrogance, Robbie Williams has this in abundance. In the UK, to keep himself in the headlines he has, as well as the above mentioned attacks on “Take That” launched scathing attacks on others who were involved in the early stages of building his career, including ex-managers and girlfriends. This has gained him few friends outside of his fan base.

His arrogance was also in evidence in his approach to the US market. Unlike other UK music celebrities, like Tom Jones, who allowed their work to filter into the US market in a gentle manner, therefore creating an environment where the US public embraced their talents, Robbie Williams decided that this was not sufficient for him. He had to storm the US, standing up and saying that he was better than what you had. If you want to offend anyone, this was a classic way to do it. Where other music legends such as The Who have treated the US consumer with respect and gained a fan base, Williams has not. Because of this attitude he has found little success in America, despite moving there.

Rehab will not solve Robbie Williams problems unless those who are counselling him start to address these deep-rooted personality problems that he has.

PROBLEMS OF A HUMAN BRAND

Robbie Williams record company EMI, who paid £80 million ($160 million) to sign for them, are also suffering as a result of the stars actions. The expected revenue that they hoped to receive as a result of this contract is not materialising. This shows that the corporation’s management team were seriously lacking in strategy when they entered into the contract.

The biggest problem with signing a “human” brand is the organisations ability to a) monitor and control its performance; b) accurately access the value; c) evaluate the stability of the brand; and d) link the contract to performance. In all of these areas EMI management failed. In terms of a) the monitoring of performance has been proven to be lacking, and there certainly been a lack of control. With b) the value was identifable then and now as excessive, particularly bearing in mind that this was a person they were dealing with.  Similarly, the evaluation of the Robbie Williams stability factor (c) was in error, bearing in mind his previous addiction problems, and in respect of d) the performance linked element was omitted. Is it any wonder that the company is now struggling?

The final nail in the Robbie Williams saga of course, is his belief in his own publicity. The media, as we know, will dramatise anything a celebrity does and, in the case of Robbie Williams, his visits on the front pages of the media was frequent. However, he also needs to recognise that the media are just as adept at destroying reputations if it helps them sell papers.

The man needs to take a step back, value his own life, cease worrying about being better, more successful and wealthier than others, and begin to enjoy being Robbie Williams.

David Beckham in demand

February 15, 2007

Hi Grit

I know that football (soccer) is not the most popular sport over there, but I doubt if many have missed the fact that one of the greatest English football players, David Beckham, has moved across the pond to play for a Los Angeles club. Well, despite the fact that, for some, this seemed like a move to cover the twilight of his career, the opposite is happening.

In the US he has wasted no time in raising his and the game’s profile. In an attempt to wow the ladies and increase his exposure Beckham has launched a fragrance brand. No doubt the promoters are relying on the ladies to persuade their menfolk to change sport allegiance.

Here, in the UK, Beckham has not been forgotten. Despite being dumped by the new English manager, who indicated that Beckham would never play for his country again, this has not gone down well with the fans. The recent run of abysmal English national football results has re-lit the Beckham flame. In a recent poll for a national newspaper  88% of those who took part wants him to return to the International line-up. He could yet achieve his ambition of reaching 100 international appearances for his country.

Whatever else is said about Beckham, one has to admire the way he has managed his “brand” image and, despite any setbacks has always managed to come out on top. In addition, unlike a number of celebrities, there have been few incidents that have tarnished his “nice guy” image. Some feat in a world of temptation.

It’s that time again!

February 14, 2007

Hi Brit,

No, I’m not talking about Valentine’s Day.  Even better!  It’s time for Sports Illustrated to publish the Swimsuit Issue.  You’ve got to love the brilliance of the concept, a magazine full of scantily clad beauties rolling in the surf of warm tropical beaches, released right in the worst part of winter.  No wonder this one issue sells more copies than everything else they publish for the year combined.   I have to say that just the cover, featuring Beyonce in a bikini, is enough to take a good deal of the chill from the air!  You should check out the link; they’ve done it up good this year with video and photo galleries.

The Church of Britney

February 14, 2007

Hi Brit,

Funny you should bring up Britney Spears and church, since my usually unreliable source sent me this at lunch:

“There is a new movement, based only on Internet contact, that is seriously disturbing the Powers That Be in many countries, The Church of Holy Britney.  This semi-religious movement is based upon interpreting her song lyrics and public activity in a prophetic light.  Some of the conclusions of the nameless high priests of this “Church” are considered by those in charge to be dangerously subversive and/or a potential danger to the general public.  For instance, the line, “Hit me baby one more time,” has been interpreted as meaning that the US and France, which have each had one revolution, are due another.  Since contact over the Internet is so anonymous, the only ready method of identifying members of this rapidly growing cult is by their act of devotion, as expressed by not wearing underwear.  It is not known at this time if Britney is involved in this, or even knows of its existence.”

Well, I know I’m going to be looking at the other people in the checkout line differently from now on.

Hi Dixie Twits!

February 12, 2007

Hi Brit,

I suspect this will confuse and bore you, but I have to get it out of my system, sorry.

dixie-chicks.jpg

The musical group, Dixie Chicks, who made their name as a country-western group, screwed up several years ago and let their lead singer open up her fat mouth about politics.  She,  Natalie Maines, during a concert in a foreign country just had to go and bad mouth President Bust.  Of course, the vast majority of their fan base, including me, were conservatives, and their music quickly dropped off the play list for country music radio stations.  To me, this was a great shame, as I really enjoyed their music.  Of course, after they associated themselves with a political ideology, it totally ruined the experience foe me, and several million other people.  This action has put a major hurt on their career ever since.  However, their new liberal friends have tossed them a bone, in the way of five Grammy awards.  Of course, this is probably not that much help, as liberals are hardly likely to purchase their music, let alone enjoy it.  In my view, all entertainers should learn a lesson from this, and keep their political views to themselves.

Britney sex secrets

February 12, 2007

Hi Grit

You can’t seem to keep Britney out of the news for long, or at least those who want to make money from being associated with her. This time it is her latest ex – Issac Cohen, who lasted for about a month. In an article in the UK News of the World, he reveals all about the star’s sex secrets, going into great detail about their antics in bed.

If it was that fantastic for them, one has to wonder why the relationship did not last very long. Perhaps it was Issac who could not stand the pace rather than Britney.

Anna Nicole Smith – Death attracts vultures

February 12, 2007

annanicolesmith_wideweb__470×3610.jpgHi Grit

No doubt you will have heard of the death of the former “UK page three” topless model Anna Smith last week, pictured right with Howard Stern, one of three male companions who claim paternity of her son. Anna’s death is being blamed, allegedly, on a drugs overdose, although this has not been officially confirmed as yet.

What I find disturbing about all this is the way the Media and Solicitors have pounced upon this news. Within hours of her death the media are setting up “ratings attracting” programmes, such as the two aired by Fox News and NBC, with fox seeing a 400,000 increase in viewers. Similarly, the Internet was immediately flooded with articles for sale and videos ostensibly of the actions of paramedics at the scene of here death. Then followed the legal fight over her estate, particular her house where, subsequent to her death, the locks have been changed twice by parties that feel their client has a right to the property. Most distasteful of all is the fight over her son, with three men claiming paternity. It seems to me like they are all trying to gain some benefit from the newsworthy aspects of the lady’s life.

It is strange how the “vulture” instinct seems to grab the public when a celebrity dies, irrespective of their views of the person when they were alive.

Kylie, hotpants, Shilpa and culture

February 10, 2007

Hi Grit

Don’t you think it amazing the way that modern celebrities are breaking down the culture structure of our society. Only a few years ago in the UK popstars, film actors and other celebs were percieved to be not worthy of the attention of the establishment. Now they cannot seem to get enough of them.

First we have Kylie’s stage costumes, including the famous gold hot pants, being exhibited in the very staid Victoria and Albert Museum. before they go on a nationwide tour. The exhibition was opened by Kylie herself with all the pomp and ceremony that such an occasion usually attracts at the V&A. One writer even suggested that the gathered important people even bowed when introduced to the star.

In the next breath we learn that Shilpa, of Big Brother fame, has been asked to appear on “Question Time.” Question time is a BBC debate programme that deals with political and social issues of the times. It usually consists of a panel of people from both sides of the political divide together with business interests.

Paris Hilton and Michael Jackson

February 9, 2007

Hi Grit

Well the British have a view on just about anything. Recently, one of our tabloid newspapers asked their readers which celebrities they considered would make the wierdest couple. Bearing in mind all of the weird UK celebrities that we have, you would have thought that two of these would have topped the list. However, this was not the case.

The popular opinion, based mainly on their plastic looks, was that Paris Hilton and Michael Jackson would be the most unusual coupling between celebrities. Methinks it did not take a high level of intelligence to work that out!

No cover up here!

February 8, 2007

Hi Brit,

 photo14.jpg

I mentioned earlier that Paris Hilton needed to release another sex tape to take attention away from her recent bout of Politically Incorrectness.  Well, there is a new celebrity sex tape about to be released, although it only stars a friend of Paris, Vivid Acquires Kim Kardashian Sex Tape for $1 Million.  It seem, as usual, the tape was stolen and sold by a Third Party.  Even pop culture tarts of Hilton’s stature can’t sell such a thing, since that would make them actual whores instead of just sluts.  While Kim doesn’t look all that trashy in the above photo, she tramps up pretty good:

 ursulamayesfeb132cmlj7.jpg

The other amateur porn star in the flick is someone or something named Ray J.  My guess is that this is just a warm up for another Paris Porn Picture to get her back in the good standing with her Hollywood friends.  Of course, if celebrity sex tapes fall out of favor, will Kim and Paris be required to attend pornhab?

Shilpa, Jade, Danielle and Jo – a week later

February 8, 2007

Hi Grit

Just thought you would want an how the people from the big brother house have got on since leaving just over a week ago.

Shilpa Shetty

Yesterday Shilpa Shetty went to Westminster to meet Tony Blair and other Members of Parliament. The crowds were so large that the police moved the following press conference for fears of security issues. Following this she travelled to Leicester, which has a large Asian community, where the crowds were even larger, forcing the police to not allow Shipla to get out of the car for the arranged Radio interview.

Jade

Jade’s planned trip to India has been called off for the present, on advice of doctors who say that she still needs treatment to deal with the psychological affect of her recent stay in the house. Mind you she got into more trouble for taking a ride with her three year old son sitting on the top of the petrol tank of a quad bike. Jade’s agent has also confirmed that she has no work as all previous engagements have been cancelled.

Danielle

Danielle, after being interviewed by police, has decided to take a holiday in the sun with her parents. Apparently, she has still not met with her boyfriend, Teddy Sherringham, an English football player, so that does not look very promising. In addition to all the modelling contracts Danielle has lost, she is also being sued for £100,000 by the Miss GB organisers for bringing the pageant into disrepute by appearing topless in a magazine and having an affair with one of the judges – you’ve guessed it, Teddy Sherringham.

Jo O’Meara

Like Jade, Jo has spent the week getting psychiatric help. Out of the three, Jo is the one who has kept the lowest profile, partially due to death threats that have been made about her.

Other news is that the police are planning on interviewing seven of the big brother housemates, so there is more to come on the potential for criminal charges.

They say a week is a long time in politics. In entertainment it is proving to be even longer when one considers the dramatic effect that it has had on these four ladies lives.

Naked Sunday Christina

February 7, 2007

Hi Grit

Yet more stars are at the “naked” thing. This time it is the pop singer Christina Aguilera. In a recenchristina.jpgt interview she revealed that she and her husband make Sunday a special “naked” day. It is a move to keep the marriage alive and interesting.

Christina confirmed that they even cook in the buff, which seems like a brave move, especially if you are preparing a roast dinner. I guess if they are worshippers the local minister and his congregation must be quite understanding as well.

However, I don’t think I will follow this craze.
