Luck for the new year

Hi Grit

I have to tell you that black-eyed peas and cornbread does not translate to an English new year tradition. For us a dark stranger bearing black coal works, which is not difficult to find.

What is unlucky for us, so I was told when looking for some socks, is washing clothes on New Year’s day. Apparently that is a definite no-no.

Brit who ever told you that bad luck story is full of s…..ensibility. My congratulations to them and ask them if I can pinch it without breaking copyright or patent laws.
With the amount of Bank holidays you POMs get, it could be suggested that it’s bad luck to wash on New Years Day and Bank holidays.
We’ve got a heap of holidays coming up between now and April so if I have permission to steal the snippet of sensibility I will be saving the earths resources by not using the washing machine on any public holiday.
