The unfeeling face of the NHS

Although this happened in our family 25 years ago, similar incidences it still happens all too frequently. My sister infortunately died as a result of a motor accident. Apparently, the doctor and ambulance at the scene stated that she would not survive the injuries, and she died in hospital about three hours later.

A week later she received a bill from the ambulance service for £15 ($30). The invoice was noted as being for “non-emergency” use. A day later she received a letter from the hospital asking if she required convalescent care. Even at the time I was inclined to write back giving these people the address of the crematorium.
